At Brehm Preparatory School we are very different from other schools, and not just because we are a boarding school. We are a school for the special needs, like ADHD and ADD. The simple truth is that public school districts, and most private institutions, are simply not equipped to provide the assistance some students need. In schools for ADHD children, students get the individualized attention they need to devise strategies for success. Often, this will require that the children learn to design and adhere to a schedule that will give them the greatest chance for success. A boarding school is the best way for students to learn the lifestyle they need to lead to overcome their challenges.
We believe that every child can succeed at Brehm Preparatory School. When it comes to ADD and ADHD, boys get most of the attention. There are few schools for girls with ADD, but Brehm does maintain girls' dormitories and honors apartments. Our approach is designed to help each individual student, no matter what their gender.
Schools For ADHD Children
Special needs like ADD and ADHD can manifest themselves in a number of ways. Many mild cases can be successfully addressed with coaching. In more extreme cases, serious behavior and emotional problems are often part of the equation. Schools for ADHD children, such as Brehm, need to be able to address the many elements that are challenging their students. Brehm Preparatory School takes holistic approach that also takes advantage of modern technology that can assist success. Unfortunately, many people believe that a school for the special needs like ADHD needs to be something like a trade school that will simply teach your child how to hold a job. At Brehm, 75% of our students go on to college and many others elect to enter the military or other post-secondary educational programs. Our goal is creating a successful lifestyle for our students.
Schools For Girls With ADD
Often people assume that ADD and ADHD only affect boys, but this is not at all true. Although boys are diagnosed much more often, many girls are also affected, particularly with ADD. However, because there are fewer diagnosis for girls, there are also fewer schools for girls with ADD. At Brehm we maintain two girl's dorms and a girls' honors apartment. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed.
