What could have been seen as a challenge by some turned out to be a fun and relaxing late morning on a warm sunny Southern Illinois day. Students got the chance to pick blueberries and blackberries – an easier foraging endeavor than Lewis and Clark would’ve encountered during their journeys. The instant gratification of hearing that satisfying kerplunk of a berry dropping into a bucket was a simple fix to anybody’s blues. The only blue left was on our fingers as we rode away! Later on, those in the culinary elective will be able to bake with their berries, and all dorms get to enjoy a healthy snack in their kitchens!
