John A. Logan Community College – Discovery Day

21

MARCH, 2018

Several Brehm students participated in Applied Tech classes at John A Logan Community College’s “Discovery Day,” March 21, attending classes in electronics, graphic design, and welding. Different projects were set up in classes for the morning and afternoon so students could experience a variety of instruction within their chosen program.

Shown above is a Brehm senior girl enjoying an electronics/computer support class. She later said she realized, “I could do this!”

This experience illuminated the uncertainty of college for many students who may have felt intimidated by the future.  In February, John A Logan College invited Brehm students to tour the Applied Technology programs to see how experiential classrooms were set up and to understand the value of college degrees and certifications in these fields.
